I’m in love with a guy who showed some interest but told me I was too young for him (we are 3 years apart) . I’ve loved him for 2 years now and no matter how many guys ask me out, or how many guys I say are cute or sexy, hes always in the back of my mind. When I sleep I dream of him. I love him so much It hurts. Sometimes I swoon and sometimes I cry. I act like I think of him as a “friend” becuase as long as I can be with him I’m happy.

unrequited love is one of the most painful experiences I have ever been through. I have now loved the same woman for three years, and we remain good friends. Sometimes the pain becomes too much to cope with, and I get very depressed. However, I know one day I will move on, and the pain will go away.

A crush is just a little bit of fun and flirting, in my opinion – totally on the other end of the spectrum to unrequited love. Throw in a little bit of Aspergers on my part, and a crush can often lead to unrequited love, especially if the woman wants to be my friend.

Unrequited love hurts, a crush is just fun.

Huge difference. A crush gives feelings of the other person being so cool. Being in love is much deeper and intense.

I do believe they are different…for me it was true deep aching love beginning with the first gaze and a chemical explosion of sort. I wanted all of him…heart, body, soul. Indescribable, I smiled when I thought of him, he feed my soul….and oddly, even tho I could envy his wife now…I’m so happy he has his soul mate as he states…just hope she knows how lucky she is and really really wish it were me.

Here’s the thing: I do believe in love at first sight. It always seems, to an outsider, to develop in the same way a crush would, but it IS different because you suddenly feel great affection and care for that person. It’s like you suddenly would do anything for that person.And just minutes before you fisrt encounter them, you feel as if something is missing even if you are otherwise content with your life.

Don’t get me wrong, I have had a crush before and it’s not as the same as love and I would not dare confuse the two. And I would just like to say that, yes, I am young, I’m only 14, but I can still suffer from a combination of love at first sight and unrequited love.
